Segmentation Methodologies
Catenate is a licensed reseller of US MOSAIC and Community Tapestry
Segmentation models. These two systems provide excellent discriminatory
power and value for our customers.
We also can provide you with any other standard model in the market.
Sometimes one segmentation system will differentiate better than another,
and we can help you decide between them. However, keep in mind, that
we at Catenate put results first. We strive to maintain independence
and if the time, budget and data exist, to explore additional solutions,
we fully support testing all systems including custom models for our
clients.
US MOSAIC
MOSAIC is a geodemographic segmentation system developed by Experian.
MOSAIC is one of over twenty neighborhood classification systems
built by the Experian staff, whose international segmentation experiences
stretches back over twenty years. Each of the nearly one-quarter
million block groups was classified into sixty-two segments on the
basis of a wide range of demographic characteristics. The basic premise
of geodemographic segmentation is that people tend to gravitate towards
communities with other people of similar backgrounds, interests,
and means. The MOSAIC assignments are updated annually by incorporating
updated AGS demographics into the segmentation model, ensuring that
the assignment is as accurate as possible given shifts in local area
demographics.

Community Tapestry
The Community Tapestry segmentation system classifies U.S. neighborhoods
by 65 market segments using proven methodology introduced more than
30 years ago by the ACORN segmentation system. Neighborhoods with the
most similar characteristics are grouped together, and neighborhoods
showing divergent characteristics are separated.
